The ITBP has provided specific timelines for the recruitment process. The online application process will begin on 15 October, 2024. Candidates interested in these medical officer posts should ensure they complete their applications before the deadline. It is imperative for applicants to strictly adhere to these dates as late submissions may not be accepted under any circumstances.

Available Positions and Vacancies

  1. Super Specialist Medical Officers (Second-in-Command): These high-ranking officers will be recruited to manage specialized medical fields, offering expert medical care and advice. They are typically professionals who have undergone extensive training and have years of experience in a particular medical specialty. They will be primarily responsible for handling complex medical cases within the forces, especially in challenging environments.

  2. Specialist Medical Officers (Deputy Commandant): These officers will manage specialized medical duties within their respective units. The role demands expertise in medical specialties like surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, anesthesiology, and radiology, among others. A Deputy Commandant level officer must have the competence to manage healthcare facilities and provide specialized medical support during emergencies.

  3. Medical Officers (Assistant Commandant): These officers form the backbone of the medical staff and are tasked with general healthcare responsibilities. They will primarily provide first-level medical care and support to personnel at various units and outposts, often under difficult conditions. The position requires a minimum qualification of an MBBS degree and registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or any other recognized state medical council.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the positions must meet specific eligibility criteria in terms of educational qualifications and age limits:

  • For Super Specialist Medical Officers, the candidate should hold a recognized medical qualification and have completed a post-graduate degree in the relevant field along with experience of at least five years in a super specialty.
  • For Specialist Medical Officers, candidates must hold a recognized postgraduate medical degree or diploma in the concerned specialty. Additionally, the candidate should have completed a minimum of 1.5 years of experience for the degree holder and 2.5 years for the diploma holder.
  • For Medical Officers, candidates must hold an MBBS degree from a recognized university and should have completed their internship.

The age limit varies for each position. Super Specialist Medical Officers can apply until the age of 50, while Specialist Medical Officers have an age limit of 40, and Medical Officers up to the age of 30.
